SECTOR 7-G
So what is Scrap Metal ? Is it the remains of something that once was ? Is it a handful of rusty nails ? Or is it just what We at Fill In The Breaks would refer to as the new Sector 7-G record ? Who knows. But what we do know is that the way things used to be is dead & you can either move on with us or be whatever cliché out of touch fossil you'd like to be.
Scrap Metal is made up of The Lyrics & Style of Impulse, The quick hands of DJ Pseudonym, & the Beats of Ecid. Put these things together & you have an album that sounds like what GZA "Liquid Swords" would sound like if The RZA was into chopping/looping pitch bended punk samples & The GZA grew up listening to Freestyle Fellowship. It's a dark, grungy, emotional journey into finding out who you are & more importantly who are going to become.
But it's more than a witty write-up & predictable comparison. Scrap Metal was a 2 year process that saw many up's & downs as well as many face lift's. There's a sense of urgency embedded in the roots of every song that keep you on your toes through the entire 48 Minutes & 33 seconds. A sense of in the moment importance that Impulse doesn't let go of. In the beginning we weren't sure what it was going to be, but now that whatever it is, is nearing we know it's all just Scrap Metal.
In 2008 Sector 7-G will be doing everything physically possible to get there new album to the masses. In December 07' they played a 21 date tour w/Eyedea & Abilities that marked a hello to many places & faces they had never yet shook hands with. They will continue to build off of that momentum & When the knife meets the rope, they'll leave America pissed off & broke.
