ECID
Ecid, mc/producer & fill in the breaks poster child is one of those rare artists that can rap, write, & produce in an argueablly equal fashion. a self proclaimed work-aholic ecid & FILL IN THE BREAKS released 3 albums in 2006 all produced entirely by ecid: "Biograffiti" his solo debut as an mc/producer "Saturday Morning Soundtrack" which is the no holds barred collaborative effort by ecid & fellow Twin Cities MC's Capaciti(of Hecatomb), Impulse(of Sector 7-G) & Kristoff Krane(of Abzorbr/Face Candy) & Jordan Miche's solo debut "Phantom Of The Operation". In 2007 Ecid is readying the release of his second solo album "Economy Size goDD Costume" which is definitly his best work to date & possibly his breakthrough release.
Ecid born Jason Mckenzie Grew up an only child in a single parent household, which these days isn't exactly uncommon. Having never met his father he struggled to find a male role model not to mention like most of us an identity in the world. First he wanted to be Michael Jordan, but we all know how that ended. Luckily he found influence through his humble surroundings & most importantly music. especially Nirvana, Ice Cube, The doors, & pretty much all hiphop/rap made in the 90's. these influences eventually inspired him to write his own songs & do all that other corny bio non-sense half ass musicians tend to use to make themselves sound "valid"
As a writer/mc Ecid crafts thaughtfull, visual, honest & challenging songs. as a producer he is the defintion of a record digger. his sample based/drum heavy beat-scapes can be colorful, abrasive, grungy, simple, beyond bizzy, sparce & or dark. As a fearless leader Ecid is aimed at building "Fill In The Breaks" into one of the premiere indie-hiphop labels in North America, all while leaving America as paranoid & afraid of themselves as ever.
Known for an his intense, personable, & insanely energetic live shows.
Ecid has played 100's of shows over the past few years & shared stages with the likes of: Eyedea(carbon Carousel/E&A/RhymeSayers), Awol One(Shapeshifters), SOLE of ANTICON, 2MEX of The Visionairies, QWEL of Typical Cats, BLUEPRINT, Glue, Hanger 18, Heiruspecs, POS, Cecil Otter, Carnage , The Crest, RA The Rugged Man, Blowfly, & Count Bass D to name a few. In 2007 he will be touring as much as physically & mentally possible in support of his follow-up to 2006's "biograffiti" & "Saturday Morning Soundtrack" albums, the awe-inspired, defintive career builder titled "Economy Size goDD Costume"

"Ecid makes one think, he is David Koresh without the cult or religion. Or maybe Nike without the cyanide. Ecid makes people listen with wit -RIFT MAGAZINE.
"Yup, I did say poetic extremist, because Ecid absolutely goes off. Lyrics take the forefront on this album, and he has a powerful voice and imagination to bring it there. -UGS MAG (ugsmag.com)
"With a penchant for crafting sinister imagery and flipping American clichés into semiotic finger traps, Ecid shows a complex understanding of contemporary American identity" -SLUG Magazine (slugmag.com)
"The lyrics are so next level you wish everyone in the room would shut up so you don't miss a line." -MIDWESTUNDERGROUND.org
"Ecid's one of the few Twin Cities MCs to go as far as the almost confrontationally abrasive coastal underground rap mainstays on Anticon and Definitive Jux." -City Pages
